A MONUMENTAL WORK. A GIGANTIC ACCOMPLISHMENT! FROM
AUTHORITATIVE ARTICLES TO PARADE OF GLAMOROUS STARS! Another spectacular
masterpiece by entertainment critic and author extraordinaire, Maximillien
de Lafayette. The book is an odyssey of the world of showbiz, cinema,
stage, music, jazz, American standards, and cabaret. And from a different
angle, it becomes a biographic encyclopedia of the who s who in music, the
pioneers, the composers, the musicians, the stars, the singers and legends
of world entertainment. In brief, it is monumental. Sailing into the
immense world of this volume, we discover the unexpected, an aspect of
biographical work rarely revealed to the public. This work could be
compared to a continuous non-stop symphonic performance by an orchestra of
1,000 musicians from all genres and schools under the baton of an
international conductor. Each one brings to the symphony a personal cache
and unexpected notes. And it works! The wealth of information in this
learned tome is outstanding. Not only all the necessary lists of people,
places, venues, best of the best, legends, new talents, new albums, etc.,
but an extended, scholarly history of the industry as well. I had to spend
some time reading about the early days of the cabaret, African-American
music, gospel music, and more, skipping back and forth to enjoy stories
about individuals whom I have always found interesting, from various
countries and genres. There are hundreds of pictures there, most beautiful
and enjoyable, accompanying well-researched, meticulous text. As always,
de Lafayette includes new talents among the great legends, which in my
humble view keep things fresh and exciting. I highly recommend this book,
both on its own and as a part of the intriguing, unique series of the Who
s Who. There is nothing like it out there, trust me, I know books. All I
ask is to have some time between volumes they come fast and furious, and
honestly I want to be able to devote some time to reading them!
--International Herald Daily News
Entertainment Greats from the 1800 s to the Present: Cinema, Stage, Music,
Divas, Legends. Captivating and most authoritative encyclopedic book on
divas and legends of music and cinema. There are no boundaries for the
frightening energy and creative thinking of Maximillien de Lafayette,
author extraordinaire and entertainment guru. It is almost unreal and hard
to believe that one single man can write 9 gigantic books in one year. De
Lafayette did it. He dashed out 6 heavy tomes on showbiz and performing
arts, one huge tome on divas, and 2 additional massive books on world
culture and foreign affairs. And this is the tip of the iceberg, for his
new book Entertainment Greats from the 1800 s to the Present: Cinema,
Stage, Music, Divas, Legends (2nd Edition) is an encyclopedic compendium
on entertainment legends, divas of the silver screen and smooth jazz.
Louise Chambertin, senior editor at Cabaret Ville Magazine wrote: This
work is a tribute to stars and headliners of world showbiz, Jazz and music
from the time of the silent films era and gramophone to modern times.
Well-written, majestically illustrated and abundant with behind the
curtains stories about the early stars and recording artists on and off
stage. The delightful saga of this remarkable book begins with its cover;
Suzanne Grzanna, a stunning diva and accomplished artist at so many levels
conveys the message of the author: The nostalgia of the past with its
charm and glorious music blended with today's rhythm fever and glitzy
showbiz. Expressing it differently, the golden era of Hollywood, Broadway
and Vaudeville bursts out on the pages of the tome and flirts with the
madness of modern music. Grzanna seems to echo the beauty and elegance of
the era of Cole Porter, Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima and Benny Goodman.
However, the book does not sleep under the rainbow of a very distant past.
Several reviews and analyses of what is going on today in Manhattan,
Hollywood and beyond are abundant. Including charts of CDs sales, market
value of entertainers, latest trends in showbiz, Jazz newcomers and rising
stars. On the back cover of the book, 3 divas glitters. Queen of
Martini-Opera and musical extravaganza, Molly Brandenburg known also as
Peggy Judy dominates the scene. Brandenburg is another super duper star of
the musical comedy scene in California. She is fun, mega-talented and
larger than life. B- The great Betty Johnson, widely recognized as one of
the greatest American Standards, Cabaret and Jazz living legends. C- The
controversial and explosive Cynthia Basinet, one of the illustrious ladies
nominated for the Noble Prize, last year. The chosen divas are perfect for
the covers of the book Lafayette was born amid flamboyant musical and
artistic milieus. Since a young age, he mingled with legends of the
American and European cinema and stars of the French music-hall. Some were
close friends to his parents. Illustrious names like Marlene Dietrich,
Simone Signoret, Jean Gabin, Sacha Distel, Michele Morgan, Omar Sharif, to
name a few. At 16, he wrote his first play Paris does not believe in
tears, and his musical melodrama, Marmara the Gypsywas produced at the
John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, USA.
Without music, there is no peace in the world. Music pacifies fanatics and
attenuates violence...and without divas, there is no charm, beauty and
reveries in our turbulent world, said Maximillien de Lafayette. This book
is a treasure. No library on showbiz is complete without it.

It gives talented artists the opportunity and platform to illustrate their
unnoticed talent FAME IS PRIMORDIAL. BUT TALENT IS A MUST Although fame is
a name recognition and success trampoline, talent remains essential for
longevity in showbiz. This is core and main theme of a recently published
massive book ENTERTAINMENT GREATS FROM THE 1800'S TO THE PRESENT: CINEMA,
MUSIC, DIVAS AND LEGENDS. The book places a strong emphasis on the work of
Jazz greats from its dawn to present, as well as, on contemporary jazz

opportunity and platform to illustrate their unnoticed talent or
disregarded accomplishments, for obvious reasons, including meager
publicity campaign strategies. This new volume is a narrative gallery of
PROFILES OF JAZZ SINGERS AND MUSICIANS: THE GREATS, PAST AND PRESENT.
Academically, it is a historical compendium retracing the lives and

songwriter and singer Suzanne Grzanna graces the front cover. California
based author and musical comedy singer, Peggy Judy appears on the back
cover. ACADEMIC, YET CONTROVERSIAL: Although, the book is an encyclopedic
work of an academic nature, the author, Maximillien de Lafayette embarks
on a most daring journey exploring and discussing delicate and
controversial matters such as: The best and worst singers & musicians;
Rating and market $ value of entertainers, singers and musicians;
Categories of singers and musicians: Easy-going, tough to deal with,
artists to avoid, highly recommended, the best in the business, the

artists you SHOULD hire! The bona fide divas and legends. The books
contains 1,500 photos of stars and artists and several charts pertaining
to the entertainment industry and rating of contemporary entertainers and
performers at 3 levels: Career highlights and accomplishments; Popularity;
Talent. The book is published by the Federation of American Musicians,
Singers and Performing Artists (FAMSPA), a United States nonprofit
organization dedicated to the promotion of quality work of singers and
musicians. This book is the volume 6 of the World Who's Who in Jazz,
Cabaret, Music and Entertainment; a series of 20 volumes. FAMSPA has
already published 9 massive books on showbiz, jazz and world
entertainment. Two more volumes will appear this year. --Allaboutjazz

AN EXPLOSIVE NEW BOOK: "PIONEERS, BEST MUSICIANS,

Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment is here! Ladies and gentlemen of
the music and entertainment industry, run to the bookstores and secure

huge waves in the industry already with the previous three volumes, with
divas fighting to be on the covers and legends begging to be included,
but this one is the biggest and the best of the series. You have to hand
it to American publishing they know how to create glitz and glamour the
cover will take your breath away. Volume IV has 8 divas on the cover. On
the front, Peggy Judy, a well seasoned entertainer and published author
bursts in absolute splendour. She looks as if she stepped out of Moulin
Rouge, waving her perfect legs under the can-can dress. On the back
cover a bouquet of seven accomplished singers includes Zola, Antoinette
Montague, Irene Soderberg, Maria Gentile, Stephanie Jordan, Nichaud
Fitzgibbon and Katie Bull. Two of them, I am thankful to say, are our
own, one from New Zealand and the other from Australia, and they glow
with elegance. The lucky author, who has his picture modestly placed
right under this bevy of beauties, must be having a good time
associating with such an entourage... Carol Lexter, associate editor of
the World Who s Who commented as follows: They were chosen because they
are among the best in the business. They have class, originality and
style. The supreme scholarship and deep understanding of the music and
entertainment industry and its history did not surprise me, since I know
the author, Maximillien de Lafayette, who is an international authority
on this subject; I have come to expect it. But he never ceases to
surprise me with the amount of information and --European Journal (Euro

THE PRESENT. JAZZ, CABARET AND ENTERTAINMENT ULTIMATE REFERENCE TOOL
Review in World Art Celebrities Journal: Volume IV of the World Who's
Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment has been fermented this
week; Showbiz, Pioneers, Best Singers, Musicians and Entertainers from
1606 to the Present. It contains all the glitters, the stories, data,
statistics and lists of lists of all those who left their mark on the
world of music and showbiz from progressive fusion rock to jazz and pop.
And from the year s big buzz lists to national music awards, and from
San Remo Song Festival awards, airplay world official top 100 and divas
to the ultimate entertainers, singers and songwriters of our time. An
unbelievable gigantic accomplishment by a showbiz expert, author and
producer, Maximillien de Lafayette. It is overwhelming. It is Homeric in
the wealth of information it offers, the descriptive categories of live
performances, styles, schools and music genres and rich biographic
chronicles of singers, composers, musicians, writers, producers and
giants of the industry. Volume IV illustrates and explains in-depth the
fabric and divergent world of stars and showbiz. A new wave of
formidable talents invaded the book, starting with the cover. Peggy Judy
was hand made for the cover of Volume IV. What a find! A perfect fit.
Physicians, writers, humanitarians and stamp collectors have their Who's
Who. Musicians, singers and divas don't. It is hard to believe. Finally,
somebody with an alert mind decided to do something about it. And what a
brilliant idea it was. And what a service the author of the World Who's

community of music and performing arts. --World Art Celebrities Journal

A NEW BOOK ON JAZZ: BEST MUSICIANS, SINGERS, ALBUMS
AND ENTERTAINMENT PERSONALITIES OF THE 19TH, 20TH AND 21ST CENTURIES. IS
A MUST READ BOOK!! One would think that there is no anecdote about the
world of music and entertainment that Maximillien de Lafayette, the
author of this new book, has not told us in Volumes I-IV of the World
Who s Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment. But when I received
Volume V, Best Musicians, Singers, Albums and Entertainment
Personalities of the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries I was flabbergasted.
An ambitious title indeed, but it truly reflects the content of the
book. The book is a treasure trove of information about the
personalities described. The facts the author has unearthed about the
early days of entertainment are astounding, and the book is
encyclopaedic in scope. But don t for a moment think that it is dull and
scholarly. Lavishly illustrated with almost one thousand photographs,
some of which are vintage, some extremely rare, it is, to begin with, a
visual treat. One wonders if Mr. de Lafayette got them from private
scrapbooks and family albums? And the anecdotal material, gossip, and
stories make the book come alive. There are diverse and intimate details
about the private lives of such early greats as, Ethel Merman, George
Burns, Jimmy Durante, Al Jolson, Jazz great composers, Cole Porter, and
Florence Ziegfeld and his ladies. You will see Sarah Bernhard in her
coffin and Anna Held on her bicycle. You will read about Broadway s
musicals and shows that created the biggest scandals in the history of
entertainment in America and unbelievable intimate stories of the
biggest stars of the era. The book also includes a list of the world
2,500 best old and new Jazz albums and CDs, by artist, by song, by year
and by billboard rating. Intriguing tales of Tin Pan Alley and the
greats of ragtime and early Jazz follow, including Scott Joplin s
personal life and other pioneers of music and showbiz. Gossip from early
radio and the private lives of Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong,
Dinah Shore, and Rosemary Clooney, well into the fifties. Rock and Roll
and Jazz in all its forms and styles are discussed in detail, including
the most popular songs of each year. The fifties, with their
mind-boggling scandals, such as the marriage of Jerry Lee Lewis to a
thirteen year old girl, his cousin no less, and Elvis Presley s rise to
stardom, the first Afro-American recording artists and their struggle
for recognition, the 300 best cabaret female singers in America, the 200
best Jazz musicians and singers of our time...are all there. You will
learn how Celeste Helm and Tallulah Bankhead dished the dirt about each
other. How and why the early female songwriters were not allowed to use
their full names on sheet music...Nor does the book neglect the present
and the shining stars of jazz and cabaret today, almost 6,000 names
featured in the book. Plenty of that is there. It is impossible to
cover, in a review, the wealth of information, charts, tables, lists
that fill the book. You can spend weeks reading it, and I suspect many
people will keep it by their bed side for months. If you have the
slightest interest in the subject, you owe it to yourself to read this
book, which I think is the best of the series thus far. Best Musicians,
Singers, Albums and Entertainment Personalities of the 19th, 20th and
21st Centuries is without any hesitation one of the best books ever
published on Jazz, world showbiz, cabaret and beloved stars who
entertained us for generations. This book is a must read book. Get your

waves!! By Albert Townsend- The International News Agency (INA) A
massive tome on world entertainment and legends that shaped the course
and face of showbiz throughout the ages has been recently published by
TimeSquaresPress and the Federation of American Musicians, Singers and
Performing Artists (FAMSPA). And the title is self-explanatory Best
Musicians, Singers, Albums and Entertainment Personalities of the 19th,
20th and 21st Centuries. This is volume V of the series World Who s Who
in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment. A very ambitious and
impressive set of 20 volumes. The previous 4 published volumes were
intelligently crafted, elegantly printed, and well written in a very
refreshing style, always with authority, fun and abundance of
information. But this, volume (Volume V) is the crown jewels of this
encyclopedic work. It starts with the era of the very first recordings
in America, the golden age of radio, serenades the colorful characters
and personalities of the ragtime period, swings with the brass bands
illustrious musicians, rocks with the stars and idols of the early years
of Rock N Roll, flirts with a roster of 2,000 contemporary celebrities
and ends up with the best of the best in the business. Add to this
Herculean journey, 970 photos including rare and vintage pictures of
America and its music leaders from 1820 to the present. It is an
addictive and most captivating book. It has it all; in-depth research,
historical data, roster of the world who s who, charts and billboard of
the greatest hits of all time, and the piece de resistance- the list and
rating of best and hottest Jazz, Pop and cabaret singers, musicians and
entertainers of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.. In other words, it
is complete. The book is written by Maximillien de Lafayette, a world
authority in the field and a renowned showbiz and music
critic/historian. Needles to say, Best Musicians, Singers, Albums and
Entertainment Personalities of the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries is his
best published work -so far. This is an essential reference tool. Look
upon it as one of the best published books on entertainment, music and

WORLD WHO S WHO IN JAZZ, CABARET, MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT. A MONUMENTAL
WORK. A GIGANTIC ACCOMPLISHMENT! FROM AUTHORITATIVE ARTICLES TO PARADE
OF GLAMOROUS STARS! Another spectacular masterpiece by entertainment
critic and author extraordinaire, Maximillien de Lafayette. It is a
gigantic set of 6 volumes exceeding 4,000 pages. An odyssey of the world
of showbiz, music, jazz, American standards, and cabaret. And from a
different angle, World Who s Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and
Entertainment becomes a biographic encyclopedia of the who s who in
music, the pioneers, the composers, the musicians, the stars, the
singers and musical organizations. In brief, it is monumental. Sailing
into the immense world of the six volumes, we discover the unexpected,
an aspect of biographical work rarely revealed to the public: The advice
and tips, the author and his editorial board of 100+ give the readers,
the performers and singers. An elaborate chapter on what a singer must
know and must do when booking a venue for a live performance illustrates
the intensity, the practical value and use of the voluminous set. The
World Who s Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment could be
compared to a continuous non-stop symphonic performance by an orchestra
of 1,000 musicians from all genres and schools under the baton of an
international conductor. Each one brings to the symphony a personal
cache and unexpected notes. And it works! Because this heavyweight Who s
Who is astronomical. Just imagine what you could find going through 200
chapters in 3 volumes! And the biographical notes! Almost 30,000
entries. The Who s Who is well crafted and divided into several parts,
such as, biographies, data and facts, charts and analyses, and
resources. In brief, it embraces all facets and aspects of the world of
music and those who make music. Most impressive it is. Authoritative?
Affirmative. Useful? No questions asked, simply because it is the world
s first who s who of music, singers, perform --International Herald

WORLD WHO'S WHO IN JAZZ, CABARET, MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT: A Tour de
Force on an International Scale! A fabulous Book. Rating 5 stars.
Maximillien de Lafayette, author extraordinaire did it again! He just
finished the last chapter of a formidable book. Should I say an
encyclopedia?! A massive 4 volume set exceeding 4,000 pages and
incorporating 400 chapters and 30,000 entries is en route. And this
impressive work is the World Who's Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and
Entertainment", 1st edition. Available to the public and world music
lovers by early February 2007. Needless to say, this overwhelming
accomplishment is the most comprehensive and authoritative book ever
written about music and the giants who sing and make music. But there is
an other fascinating dimension to this book: A sort of un-chartered
musical territory encompassing the biographical history of artists, tips
on how and where to book a show, how to deal with venues' owners and the
tour de force chapter on the best of the best in the business. It is a
documented work and a well crafted chronological analysis of
contemporary performing arts. However, there is a juicy and
controversial chapter in the Who's Who that might infuriate some
entertainers. Especially those who were not listed in that chapter, an
"audaciously labeled chapter" by the author as Roster of the Legitimate
Cabaret-Jazz Singers in America. But de Lafayette fears no beast and no
man as a critic once wrote in the International Herald Daily News. The
chapter on the best of the best is equally engaging, entertaining and a
coup de grace piece of work. Are you a performer? Do you know how and
where to book your show? How to protect your interests, get the best
deal and promote your show? Think again. You better read what
Maximillien de Lafayette wrote about strategies, techniques you must use

World Who's Who in Jazz Cabaret Music And Entertainment. The most
authoritative book on showbiz and music. Maximillien de Lafayette new
ambitious and impressive project has materialized; a massive
encyclopedic set of 4 volumes on divas, jazz, cabaret and the world of
entertainment: World Who's Who In Jazz, Music, Cabaret And
Entertainment. This is a major undertaking and astonishing
accomplishment at the highest level. It encompasses every known aspect,
facet and genre of the performing arts and the world of entertainment.
The four volumes include 30,000 entries, thousands of biographies,
reviews, analyses of the music industry sales, charts and hits,
including the career highlights of mega stars and recently discovered
talents and rising stars.
In November 2006, de Lafayette's
"Entertainment Divas Cabaret Jazz Then And Now" became an international
best-seller. It seems that divas are a hot topic, nowadays. And the
author is cashing big time on it. Why not? We are fond of divas and
femmes fatales, especially, when they are brought to life under a new
light; the unknown persona of the Diva and the hidden mystique of la
femme fatale. And de Lafayette did just that. He knows extremely well
the " sacred, the damned and the risqué flair and cache of those
glittering stars. He has been writing about them for twenty years. I
thought one volume will suffice. But after I have read two volumes of
the set, I realized that two more volumes would shed more light on the
subject, especially when 200 additional chapters are added to volume
three and volume four. This is an amazing work. Intense, comprehensive
and entertaining. Almost everything you need to know about cabaret,
jazz, life entertainment and the business of music is explained at
length and in-depth. This book is not based on fame and fortune alone,
but also on merit. This book brings to you those who are believed to be
the best in the business." Highly recommend. Get your copy right away.
